PORTUNUS MEMBER OF UNITED NATIONS GLOBAL COMPACT INITIATIVE
Under the umbrella of the Global Compact initiative established by U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan, NGOs, international business and labor organizations as well as representatives from the world of science and politics are working closely together with the aim of forging a global economy based on the principles of sustainable development.
For Portunus sustainability is core business and we act accordingly with global standards for our value chains as well as with products that enable sustainable development.
Therefore we have been supporting the UN Global Compact as a member since 2012
Why has Portunus signed the Global Compact?
By signing the UN Global Compact and adhering to the ten principles, Portunus is given an international framework to work with Corporate Social Responsibility and a tangible set of ground rules. Moreover, we send a signal to our partners our commitment to operate according to the ten principles and internationally accepted conventions and values. Being a member of the UN Global Compact network furthermore enables us to share experiences and learn from other member organisations.
Human Rights
Human rights protect each and every person’s dignity. Respecting human rights in our business operations and business relationships is the foundation of our social responsibility. Our standards are aligned with internationally recognized principles and fulfill or exceed existing laws and regulations. As a founding member of the UN Global Compact, we support the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and work towards aligning our internal guidelines and processes accordingly.
Communications
The progress we are making to integrate the principles of the Global Compact is detailed in our Communication on Progress, which we have published every year.
